Riley’s poor luck

This is Riley. An 18 week German Shepherd puppy who met a bit of bad luck. She fell down some steps and broke her femur 4 weeks ago. The good people at All Pets Animal Hospital helped raise money for her splinting, X-rays, and vet care as the owners are short on funds. I offered my services as well and I saw Riley last week for the first time when they removed her splint. She is doing great this week and we just started her in the underwater treadmill today. She does have another problem we noted though. When watching her walk, I noticed she has extreme laxity (looseness) of her ligaments. You can see while she walks in the water, how low she drops onto her wrists and hocks. We are unable to do any further diagnostics at this point and are going to work on strengthening her legs as much as possible. We may be considering braces for her legs soon if she doesn’t make progress.
